Join our Community Partnerships/ Youth, Social Planning & Equity team! As the Social Planning and Policy Officer, you will be responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and the wider community. This includes planning for and assisting in the identification of current and future community needs, demands and expectations as they relate to health, wellbeing and social planning and policy

What a typical day will look like;

• Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of social, health, and wellbeing strategies, plans, and policies to ensure they reflect evolving community needs.
• Undertake research, data analysis, and community engagement to inform policy development and identify service gaps, trends, and emerging issues.
• Provide expert advice and briefings to internal stakeholders, including Councillors and executive teams, on matters impacting community wellbeing and inclusion.
• Advocate to all levels of government and external agencies regarding legislation, funding, and services that support equitable health and wellbeing outcomes.
• Foster strong partnerships with community groups, service providers, and government bodies to support coordinated and collaborative planning and delivery.

What you will bring to the role;

• Significant experience in developing and implementing effective strategic plans, policy development and research that informs, influences and facilitates implementation and monitoring of plans and policies.
• Well-developed understanding of engagement practices and principles.
• An understanding of the complexities in the provision of community services in a local government setting and knowledge of social planning theories, methodologies and their application.
• Achievements in community engagement, customer service excellence and continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Demonstrated understanding of public health planning, the state public health and welling being plan and the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
• Experience in developing and/ or implementing public health and wellbeing plans in the Victorian context would be advantageous.
